When the air filled with killer wasps, Hayden hit the floor. He ducked under a big swarm of them and crawled to the other side of his table. Adrenaline could do a lot for some people, but for others, it froze them. Hayden saw someone locked down in fear up ahead and tried to beckon them over. He called out, but the room was too loud with all the screaming and the buzzing.
Finally, with concentration, He made a telekinetic bubble around himself and ran across the aisle. He crouched down with the young student and put a hand on her shivering shoulders. “Hey, hey, it’s okay. I got you. Okay?”
Wasps were bouncing off his invisible shield and it took the girl a moment to realize she was safe with him. “Come on, I’ll get you out of here.”
Hayden widened his shield and got her to her feet. Together they made it out of the dining hall without being stung. After she had thanked him and ran off to join the students evacuating to the front, Hayden took a deep breath and went back in for more students in danger.
