Thread: He's Yanking Yer Chain
WHO: Sasha, Davian, and Mr. Farrowe
WHEN: October 30th
WHERE: History class

Davian was in a bad mood. It was stupid that they had to go to classes the day before Halloween. What was the point of it? Everyone was too excited to pay attention. Fuck. He sat in his desk, slouching forward, but not so far forward that Mr. Farrowe would think he was napping and call on him to answer a question. Davian had learned the happy balance between sitting up straight and laying on his desk that wouldn't get him negative attention from the vampire teacher. He'd already had his phone taken away when he was trying to sneakily sext up Ambriel.

Davian's black tail swayed lazily behind him, curling out from the backrest of his chair and dragging on the floor. The spade shaped tip occasionally wrapped itself around a chair leg, then loosened and went back to dragging. Eyes wandering the room in an effort to stay awake, Davian fixated on the bright head of hair sitting directly in front of him.

Something caught his attention and Davian had a perfectly devilish thought form in his mind. He grinned.

Living with a tail and having to hide it from unwanted human attention meant that Davian could usually spot when someone else was trying to hide non-human features. Ambriel was good with the glamours on his wings, but Davian could usually discern where they were positioned. Sasha was good, but Davian knew what to look for and spotted the tell tale tail when it moved and caught the light just enough to off-set the glamour.

Sasha wasn't Davian's favorite person in the world, but he didn't personally hate him. Not like Sasha thought all demons hated the halfsies, anyway. The annoying part was that Davian's status as an exile meant half-demons like Sasha outranked him on the demon hierarchy. Sasha had even tried to flex at Davian and Davian was having none of that. He had Sasha where he wanted him, really, knowing he was half-demon and that Sasha didn't want that information getting out. While he held that power, Davian didn't have to do shit Sasha said.

Which meant it was about time to remind the little fucker who was in charge here.

Davian glanced up at the front where Mr. Farrowe was going on about something Davian had little to no interest in. He waited until the teacher turned to write something on the board, and then made his move. Pulling another demon's tail was rude demonic behavior usually reserved for disciplining young imps. It was similar to boxing someone's ear, and it smarted. Davian would know.

It was quick, but it was merciless. Davian leaned forward and grabbed where he knew the tail to be. When his clawed fingers closed around it, he gave it a sharp yank and then sat back in his seat, assuming innocence.

Sasha quite liked history class, but the feeling probably wasn't mutual. He liked to ask questions, and the more questions he asked the further away from the subject they got which, according to Mr Farrowe, was why the class was now a week behind schedule. As a result he'd been asked to bring an extra notebook with him, where he could write down all of his questions and ask them at the end when it wouldn't disrupt the lesson.

Now all he had to do was show up on time more often, get better grades and not colour every assignment in a different shade of red.

Still, he was trying. Or at least he was sometimes. Right now he was simply admiring the view of Mr Farrowe writing on the board, his weight shifted to one side and his trousers hugging him in all the right places. It was almost like he dressed for the attention, not that Sasha would blame-

The half-demon yelped loudly when his tail was pulled. His first thought was that his glamour had slipped and if his glamour had slipped then everyone would be able to see what he was. Sasha whirled round in his seat, his eyes wide and panicked until he saw who the culprit was. An entirely different sort of emotion surged through him then, but before he could retaliate he remembered their last conversation. Still, it didn't stop him from glaring at the other demon, his glamoured tail retreating under the desk.

Rafe's classroom was mostly quiet with students taking down notes furiously. The lecture of the day was on the Ottoman Empire and their conquest of Constantinople, and the significance of this on the rest of the world. The marker scribbled on the whiteboard, writing down the names of specific individuals and drawing lines to major world events that were triggered by it. The Spanish Inquisition, the age of exploration, and so on. His back turned to his class, he spoke loudly so they would listen, "Yes, this Isabella the First of Castile and Ferdinand the Second of Aragon are the same who funded Christopher Columbus, more accurately known as Cristobal Colon, for his attempt to find India. And no, Mr. Lucas, you do not get extra credit for—"

His sentence was cut off harshly by a shout. He turned, marker still in hand, the names on the board partially written, and his eyes scanned the room immediately. He spotted the owner of the shout immediately, and then observed that he was looking at someone else. That someone else was Davian. His brow furrowed and he lowered his arm, the whole class now sitting quietly and staring in the direction that Rafe was looking.

"Is everything alright, Mr. Park? Did Mr. Rivera do something?" he asked, taking the marker cap off the back and replacing it on the tip. He set the marker on the desk nearby and then folded his arms, watching the two with care and for clues as to what might have transpired should one decide to brush it off or tell a lie. Davian occasionally slept in class and the only real disturbance he made was when Rafe made a point to wake him from his slumber.

Davian affected a look of shock and hurt feelings when Mr. Farrowe immediately cast blame on him. "I didn't do shit!" He professed, eyes wide, hands up. "Why you gotta point fingers at me, Teach? Little shorty over here just has spasms sometimes. Not my problem."

He folded his arms and sulked down in his chair, but there was an amused upturn of his lips when he looked at Sasha again. "Sure does squeal like a pig, though." he murmured quietly.

"I do NOT have spasms!" Sasha snarled at the demon, his brown eyes taking on a slightly red tinge for a moment. The colour faded and he turned around to face Mr Farrowe. "He-"

Sasha's mouth hung open for a moment or two as he realised the trap which had been set for him. He couldn't get Davian in trouble without outing himself as a half-demon.

"It's nothing," he sulked, folding his arms across his chest. Davian was supposed to be beneath him, he was supposed to be the one being humiliated, not Sasha. What kind of demon lord kept in contact with a traitor?

Sasha huffed through his nose, his anger bubbling away beneath the surface. It might have remained that way had Davian not chosen to make a further comment. Throwing a scowl at the demon, Sasha fired back.

"Shut your mouth, you motherfucker!" he spat in Korean; swearing in class was an easy way to earn detention, but only if the teacher understood you.

Rafe gave a look to Davian, making it clear that his feigned innocence would have no place in his classroom. Sasha wasn't one to throw blame around about things, and the defensive manner in which he spoke to Davian made it clear there was some history. Rafe knew what Sasha was and wondered if it had to do with that. Demon hierarchy. They weren't in a commune but some things remained and maybe Sasha was bucking up against it.

Sasha quickly said it was nothing and Rafe's hands were somewhat tied then. If Sasha didn't want to pursue action against Davian, Rafe would have to set it aside and maybe pull Sasha aside after class. Well, no need of pulling Sasha aside. The boy would have a long list of questions that Rafe would try to answer by the next class. So he started to turn again when Sasha was angrily addressing Davian again.

Rafe didn't understand Korean but the tone was enough for him to turn back, "Mr. Rivera and Mr. Park. Hallway. Right now. The rest of you, consider yourself relieved of the lecture until we come back into the classroom." He made his way to the door and opened it, looking directly in Sasha and Davian's direction before motioning for the two of them to go.

At Sasha's loud outburst, Davian's eyes widened with surprise and delight. He grinned, sharp white demon teeth showing. That smile was wiped away when his name was called from the front of the class. Davian was used to hearing it said that way and he groaned, knowing detention was incoming.

"Little fucker," he said under his breath to Sasha as they both got up. "Swear to fuck I'll wring your neck if I get in trouble because of you."

It was the only threat Davian had time to come up with before he had to move his feet towards the door and Mr. Farrowe who stood just on the other side. Davian's black tail swished freely behind him and he clasped his fingers behind his head stretching with a giant yawn as he walked out of the classroom.

"You started it," Sasha hissed at the demon as he got up out of his chair. Davian could create demonfire, but Sasha wasn't overly concerned about that. He was lazy, and being lazy made him slow sometimes, so it wasn't all that difficult to get him on the ground. How could he create demonfire with when someone was pushing his eyeballs into his skull?

As he followed Davian out of the room Sasha watched the demon's black tail swish from side to side; all he'd have to do was land his foot down with enough force right on the fork and Davian would howl. It was an amusing thought, one he might have acted on was Mr Farrowe not watching them.

Moving into the corridor with a huff, Sasha stood against the wall with his arms folded and gazed down the corridor, his glamoured tail hiding behind him.

With both students in the hallway, Rafe stepped out to join them and closed the door behind him. His gaze flicked between the two of them, observing their posture and letting the quiet settle for a moment before he began talking, "Something happened in that classroom and I want to know what it was. I am not afraid to keep you out here for the rest of class and after school. No clubs, no fun, and no naps. So, who is going to start?"

His eyes landed on Davian when he said "naps" but now he stood with his arms folded and waiting for one of them to speak up about it. He was all but tapping his foot.

Davian had his fingers laced together and planted on the crown of his head, avoiding the jagged edges of his chopped black horns. His eyes were half closed, assuming a bored and tired expression he wore when he was trying to act like nothing in the world bothered him.

No naps, though? The Sloth demon's eyes widened a bit with worry. Mr. Farrowe couldn't stop him from having naps, could he? He couldn't. Davian could fall asleep almost on command, anywhere, any time, and in any kind of situation. The fires of Hell couldn't keep him awake. Mmm, fire. That sounded nice and warm just then.

"Look, Teach." Davian sighed and brought his hands down to fold his arms and slouch with one shoulder against the wall, Sasha between himself and the vampire. "Little halfsie here has had it out for me ever since he found out who I was. He'd do anything to get one over me. Makes up shit all the time in detention that I did, like setting his ass on fire. Shit like that. Kid thinks he outranks me in the demon hierarchy."

Davian spoke openly and freely about what Sasha was in front of the teacher, knowing it would annoy Sasha and hopefully make the little half-human make a fool of himself. "I tried to be a good demon and reach out to him, take him under my wing and-- and shit like that." Davian shrugged off the wing comment that had his old scars tingling from empty wing bone shoulder joints. "He didn't want it, so. He's not my problem. And when have I ever gone out of my way to deal with something that wasn't my problem? Hmm?"

Sasha stared wide eyed, affronted, as Davian addressed their teacher and tried to make out like none of this was his fault. All of this was his fault! And to talk about it so openly in the school corridor, like it wasn't a secret; how did Davian even know that Mr Farrowe was aware of Sasha's status as a half demon?

He had to do something. Every time they butted heads Davian got away without punishment and it had to stop. Someone had to believe him, right?

Outrage burned behind his eyes as Sasha turned towards the demon, jabbing two slim, manicured fingers into Davian's sternum. "That's bullshit! Everything you just said was a lie! When I first started here you told me you were a demon lord, and you didn't even know what I was until your brother told you!" the half demon hissed. "You did set my clothes on fire and you are beneath me; demons don't give ranks to traitors." Sasha's fangs were visible when he spoke and his deep brown eyes were showing their true dark red colouring.

Turning from Davian, Sasha looked up at Mr Farrowe. "He pulled my tail in class. Demons do it to other younger demons they outrank, even though Davian doesn't outrank anyone. He did it as an insult because he knows it goes against hierarchy and because I can't tell anyone and because nobody knows demon rules except us."

"Mr. Park, hands to yourself," Rafe said immediately to Sasha after the half-demon jabbed the demon looked between the two. He didn't understand the complexities or laws of the demon world to the extent they both did. Rafe knew that demons followed them outside of covens. It was ingrained. After a few conversations with Sasha and questions to his Head of House, he learned that for demons, the hierarchy was everything and you could take the demon out of the commune but you couldn't take the commune out of the demon.

He said, "First and foremost, under no circumstance will there be any tail pulling of any kind, Davian." His eyes flicked to the sloth demon, "And you need to apologize to Mr. Park for doing thus. Second, I know that hierarchy is important for demons, but within my classroom, it means nothing whatsoever. And Sasha, should there be any truth in what Mr. Rivera says, you will find yourself serving detention."

Rafe paused and looked between the two of them, "If you want to posture, do it on your own time. You both need to stop and think long and hard about how you'll interact in the future. You can ignore each other and stay out of trouble, or you can move past the hierarchy. Mr. Rivera, find other ways to amuse yourself during my lectures, and don't let them be at the expense of others and Mr. Park . . . "

He looked at Sasha, "Have you thought of why Mr. Rivera did what he did? Or do you simply see him as a traitor and follow the rules that so bluntly shoved you toward the bottom because of who you call your parents? Food for thought to process later. Now, both of you into the classroom and back to your seats. And no more interruptions. Are we clear?"

Davian's smirk grew when Sasha's anger did. The outburst had the demon raising his eyebrows in mocking way, white fangs flashing. "You have a tail? What? Wow, that's totally news to me." Davian covered his mouth with one hand in an animated display of surprise and wonderment.

Rafe cut them both off and Davian's gaze settled on the tall vampire, opening his mouth to protest a few times. When Mr. Farrowe was finished talking, Davian shrugged. "Sure, I'll apologize for doing something I didn't even know the squirt had. Not all demons have tails, so. But whatever, I'll say I'm sorry if it makes you feel better, Teach."

Clearing his throat and taking on a dramatic tone to his voice, Davian made a low sweeping bow, the longer parts of his hair trailing on the floor, ass in the air and tail undulating like a slow whip. "Great amazing half-demon squirt mini-shorts," he began. "I sincerely apologize for somehow magically finding your glamoured tail and yanking it in the middle of class and making you squeal like a pink bedazzled piglet. Please accept my humblest apologies."

Mr Farrowe's considered advice may have made more of an impact if Davian hadn't continued speaking. Sasha glared daggers at the demon as he made further attempts to talk his way out of trouble, denying that he'd even known the half demon had a tail. His anger boiling over, it was all too much for the smaller boy to stay quiet about.

"He knew I had a tail!" Sasha growled at their teacher. "He's lying to you! Why do teachers always believe him when he lies right to your faces?!?!"

By now his full glamour had worn off, giving the teacher and student a visible indication of Sasha's irritation. The spade thrashed back and forth as he watched Davian make a low, exaggerated bow before addressing him to make his false apology. Sasha narrowed his eyes at the demon, half-temped to launch himself at the boy and break his stupid traitor nose; Davian was mocking him, he was sure of it.

The half-demon turned his attention to Mr Farrowe. "He's making fun of me! That's not a real apology and he knows it! Davian knew where my tail was and he yanked it on purpose because he wanted me to get in trouble. I don't know how he knew it was there, maybe my glamour wore off, but if you believe him then you're just stupid!"
