Sasha was trying to look busy. Normally he didn't sit so close to the soccer field, but the binoculars he'd borrowed from one of the classrooms at the beginning of term, which had allowed him to sit much further away where people couldn't see him, had recently been confiscated by a teacher. Getting a little closer was really the only option beyond not watching at all.
With a notebook in front of him, Sasha occasionally glanced at the field through his bangs in between scribbling down his workings out; hopefully people would think he was just doing some algebra homework. Really though, he was working out his compatibility score with Brendan. Sasha had copied it down from two girls in the library, although he'd changed the word 'loves' to 'likes' for his own preferences. He'd already tested it out on the previous page but had only scored 44%, so he'd decided to try it again using his full name this time.
Nick's voice made him jump, his pencil scratching through the result he'd just written. Sasha quickly covered up his notebook with his arms and looked up at the boy, hoping he hadn't see what he'd been writing.
"Uh, sure," he replied. "I was just...um...I-I just felt like sitting outside."
