Leprechauns were the first thing that came to mind but he was entirely too tall for that and he did say he was dead, and to her knowledge, leprechauns were not numbered among the undead. He had too much color to be a zombie or a vampire. So if he was undead he must be using magic to hide it, the same way she used magic to hide the way she actually looked. If she showed him her true form, she doubt he would let how disturbing of an image it was show. There were far more terrifying things but it was usually the goat eyes that made people squeamish.
"You don't look dead," she said aloud to expose something of her thought process to him, "So you could be using glamours." She wasn't terribly familiar with Irish folklore and races, and he could even be an implant. But a last name like Cavanaugh was sort of a giveaway he came from a native line.
"Some sort of fae maybe," she said, making sure not to intonate it like a question, "What are they called?" She snapped her finger once, "The name. It is used for the Halloween decoration, isn't it? Jack something?"
