"Like I said, sometimes it does last. Just because it didn't once before doesn't mean it won't in the future," Jae chided but knew that Sasha's pessimism bordering on (if not full blown) nihilism was something not shaken so easily. She nudged him slightly with her elbow, "You know friendship is a form of love. And you have a friend in Vixey, and in me too." It wasn't what he wanted because so many desired that romantic love but maybe it was something. Sometimes it wasn't even romantic. Attraction made a person feel wanted.
She paused and then looked up, "Davian antagonizes people as a way to see if he likes them. If they get angry at them, they become a form of amusement. If they quip back, he decides he sort of likes them. He's full of contradictions but . . . "
Jae's eyes then fell to the ground, "Davian has confidence in himself but he is like others too. A lot of people hide what they are and pretend to be something else. It could be for any reason. We all do it. I hid what I am from others for a long time. Years. For me it was a way to protect myself. I grew up believing that if people knew what I was, they would hate me for it."
