Felicity and Gil
"He'll be family sooner than later," Felicity reminded, watching as Gil sort of scrambled around to almost a compliment, "It's always a little personal, isn't it?" He wasn't going to get out of this. Don't take it personally? So if she wasn't betrothed to Galad, Gil might actually show her some semblance of friendship, however Gil went about that.
The reality was that their betrothal wasn't going to just vanish. She would marry Galad and Gil would have to accept that. She said, "A truce would be nice, but there's something uneasy about that word. 'Truce.' It's temporary. It never lasts as long." She had to keep the charade up. That she didn't know it was Gil and she still believed it was Galad.
"Maybe he should stop thinking of it as a battle for you," she leaned in, resting her head on his shoulder, a surprisingly intimate movement but one that Galad wasn't a stranger to receiving.
