"Oh goddess, no, he's not getting expelled," Cressida said though she worried that his behaviors, if they continued, might lead to that. Especially if . . . Leon wanted to know about next year. She'd have to tell him. "He's being held back a year." It was probably something that may remind Leon of how he had to stay a year longer, only the circumstances for that were completely different. Leon had become a vampire. John focused on the one thing he thought he was good at.
"Like I said, in his magic courses, he's passing," she said, "But his academic courses, which are important for year advancement, he's failed. All of them. I've had his teachers talk to me concerned about it. I know how much he values his magic, but I'm concerned."
