Caitlin and Van
"I know, right?" Caitlin chuckled, "Did you ask him to tag along too?" It was an innocent question. Maybe he had and John refused. What excuse had he given? She'd be sure to give him a hard time about the crazy shit he missed. John was interesting but he didn't seem to avoid talking to people the way she did. She saw him talking with that girl Clara and Sorin too. But he wasn't out there trying to be buddy buddy with everyone.
She listened as Van explained the situation in Miami. The homeless people there. Van turned the question on her and she admitted, "No. There were a few times where the cops thought I ran away. Foster parents calling them up thinking I bailed. If I wanted to, they wouldn't have found me." Caitlin liked to think herself as resourceful and she could handle herself on her own for a long time. Loneliness didn't plague her the way it did others.
"I'd just go out for hours and do whatever, you know?" she asked, leaning back against the wall, "Get the hell away from everyone."
