James would be teetering back and forth between the two. He wanted to hold the boy but he wondered if he would be receptive at all. He was confused and angry and scared. A lot of bad feelings that he was too young to have to experience. It was settling in and piece by piece, James would have to accept this new reality and build from there. It was a long journey upward again.
"A meal and rest is a good place to start," Rafe said, "And from there, we'll see what happens." Rafe would keep a close eye on James. He hoped the counseling helped. He didn't like to think that James was beyond help at this point. There was always a chance to save the person, but it required them wanting saved and a lot of that involved themselves.
He motioned for the door and the two departed for the kitchen.
