Cress and Micah: Near the water
Steam rose from Micah's hot wet skin into the cold air, pursuing Cressida when she stepped back yet again. For all intents and purposes, Micah had learned his lesson from that time he'd pulled Cressida into the water, and he wouldn't dream of doing it again, lest he incite the anger of Hydra House all over again with another age of spider-ocalypse. But it was in his nature to tease like he might dunk her.
The charm didn't differentiate between teasing and intent, however. He wrapped his arms around her, not to pull her into the water, but into a kiss, and the charm did its owrk. Micah knew an instant before it happened that something wasn't right. His heightened senses heard the click of the magic engage and the smell of it was unmistakable.
Backwards he went, shoved away from her and directly into the open maw of a cut ice hole. Luckily, there were no students in it when the tall teacher splashed down. Freezing water went over his head and Kaden, disoriented from the kick and still in shock that she had gone there, almost gasped in a lungful of water. Instead, he kicked and surfaced, drenched to the bone with water forming ice crystals already on the tips of his graying beard. Students gathered around laughing at the situation as Kaden's mirth-filled eyes found Cressida's.
"You!" With an ease that went along with his years playing football and also of being a bear, Micah grabbed the edge of the ice and pulled himself out of the water. The charm couldn't last forever. He approached Cressida with eyes glinting with intent, planning to circle her in his wet and cold embrace.
