The bear tipped his head at her when she saw back. Though she had stopped crying, Kaden could see that she was not alright. A giant purple tongue slurped over Imani's face, wiping away tears. The bear grunted out a long expressive bear-speak that could mean any number of things. It's alright. Don't be sad. You'll get through this. Chin up. You are loved. Things will get better. and, with a gentle nudge against her shoulder, Let's go back.
Kaden stood up on his four legs and shook. Snow flung off his thick brown fur and he pawed at the ground, digging a groove even in the frozen ground. The bear turned his shoulder towards Imani for her to grab onto and climb up. Kaden had carried students before, like a warm lumbering ride. Sometimes, during the full moon especially, he carried them with his jaws securely locked on their clothes when they weren't supposed to be out there.
Imani could also choose to walk, but the bear looked back at her expectantly. They weren't going to stay there any longer.
