Alex half-expected Fred to shut him out. Ambriel was still doing it, and Alex's patience was growing thin. He knew that Davian was worried and wasn't going to leave him, but the angel needed to open up and get some help. Fred, at least, was now willing to share some, and Alex sat quietly, listening. He hadn't known the full history of Fred, just the little glimpses she gave him. It was the Hydra in here, though she liked that she wasn't like the other Hydra too. She wasn't uppity. She wasn't self-absorbed in being right. And she didn't act like a tool because she thought she was hot shit.
"Damn," Alex said in response, "How . . . how did she die? I mean . . . is that asshole still out there?" Sickness took his grandfather and Alex wished he could hunt the thing down and stop it for what it did. But it had been a natural and peaceful death. And Caitlin. That named sounded kinda familiar. Oh, yeah, that really quiet girl who kinda just hung around. Alex kinda knew who she was but didn't talk to her much. Probably because she didn't talk to other people much.
