Thread: Winter Recital (Open to Any) WHO: Any in choir, band, or dance class WHEN: Dec. 2, 2016 WHERE: The Academy Theatre
The winter recital wasn't really holiday themed. Sure, there were a few songs in there, but it was more of a culmination of what a semester of classes could put out. The band, which was more like a symphony orchestra, performed a number of pieces with specific individuals chosen by the teacher to perform. Most of them were Experts, though a few familiar faces had performed solos previous recitals because of their skill. The music filled the auditorium, sweet sounds of finely tuned instruments playing in unison. They'd all practiced devotedly to perfection, and while there were a few iffy spots here and there, they continued the standard of excellent performance that carried through previous years.
The choir followed a similar format. Great numbers ranging in styles and then the soloist here and there performing. The only incident that unfolded was when a Standard, who was performing for the first time in front of a crowd, froze and began singing the wrong lyrics before he was quickly corrected. The nervousness and embarrassment quickly subdued and then the program continued relatively undisturbed. They received a large ovation when it was all said and done. The stands were cleared away and at last, the dance performances would commence.
There were a few couple dances, a large number of solo dances, and then some students gathered together for a large group performance. The music varied as much as the styles. There was ballet, salsa, contemporary, and so on. Each student performing given an individual applause, and starting from the Standards until the Experts performed. Once more, the only incident that transpired was when Davian took the stage. He appeared to have forgotten that he needed a dance. With a microphone in hand, a few expletives announced over the speakers at his realization, some pleas to walk stage, and then an impromptu can-can with Davian providing the music, the program continued as normal.
When it was all said and done, everyone received another applause and the students went into the audience to join their peers, teachers, and any visiting parents who congratulated them on a job well done.
