When Alicia opened the door seeing Blake was somewhat of a welcome sight. Of the teachers that would surely come looking for her, Mr. Heartly certainly was preferred. Still his opening question caught her off guard. After a moment of silence she spoke. Her voice cracking.
"I suppose I don't have one. So may as well fail me. If the world is going to shit on me, may as well get it all done with at once." she replied back. What could she say? Surely he didn't want to hear about the love life, or now lack of, of his students.
She gave him an appraising look. It was hard to tell. She liked Mr. Heartly, he was hands down her favorite teacher. She knew he wasn't the type to coddle but maybe he would understand. He didn't really have anything to go on, other than the obvious that she was upset.
"Bushara broke things off with me, okay? She's not coming back to school. She's staying in Eqypt to take over for her Mother." she finally explained. Her voice cracking more as she spoke. She was doing her best not to cry in front of Mr. Heartly, even if it was obvious that she had been. She picked up a bottle of water and took a sip, hoping it would help. Her hands trembled a bit. She was shaky and weak. Certainly not the confident and strong girl she normally was. Her heart was broken and it was difficult to heal, even with magic.
