Beach: Felicity and Van
"Yeah, but pretending isn't the same as being good at it. I can fake-flirt just fine. That's easy. But does it actually work?" Van wasn't convinced. Felicity was hot and everything, but one couldn't get by on looks alone. Or that's what she was saying anyway.
"I don't-- Listen." He sighed and sat up, folding his legs. "I grew up in a million different foster homes. You know what I learned in every single one? You gotta look out for yourself because everyone else is in it for them. I don't have a bone to pick with everyone. Just... I'm not going to trip over myself to be nice to people."
The bad boy comment earned an eye roll from Van, however. He wouldn't be surprised, he thought, because like Felicity, he'd seen movies and paid attention. "I don't want to change who I am just so I can get laid."
