Impending Nuptials [Ambriel, Davian and OPEN to reactions]
Davian felt a lump rise in his throat and he swallowed hard, brown eyes getting misty with tears that he quickly wiped away. Whoever came up with the idea of writing vows deserved to be kicked in the balls. Probably some asshole who liked to see demons cry. Davian sniffed and blinked needing to exercise rarely seen self-control to keep himself from making out with Ambriel right there at the priest's podium.
He had worn white because he thought it was entirely appropriate. The jacket got lost somewhere between the dressing area and the beach, as did the tie that he'd borrowed from Paxton - maybe it had gone the same way of all the other items of clothes he'd borrowed from his brother. But Davian had more important things to do that day than worry about any of that. He was going to marry his angel.
Knowing it was his turn now, Davian fumbled around in his pockets for the slip of paper he'd written his vows on. "It, uh-- you-- You are-- fuck." Davian looked out at the crowd that was waiting expectantly, then back at Ambriel. He'd left the notes in his jacket. Wetting his lips and giving a smile, Davian winged it.
"We staked out on a mission to find our inner peace. Make it everlasting so nothing's incomplete. It's easy being with you, sacred simplicity. As long as we're together, there's no place I'd rather be." They may or may not be lyrics to a song, but they came from Davian's black blooded demon heart.
"It's in the way you look, it's in the way you love. And I can see that this is real. It's in the way you talk, it's in the way you touch. And I can see..." Davian squeezed Ambriel's hands, drawing them closer to his body. "That this is real love."
Now came the promises, the vows, the thing that were binding for a demon. They came surprisingly easily from him after hearing Ambriel's promises. "The longest, darkest, and hardest days of my life were the ones you weren't in, Ambriel. I vow to make those days few - unless you're just fucking tired of my snoring, then it's okay if you want to go flying or some shit-- "
Davian shot a glance at the priest and cleared his throat, continuing. "I vow to love you forever. I vow to raise you up when you feel low. I vow to bring you back down to earth when your head is too high in the clouds and you're too close to the sun and are about to get incinerated because I've heard of that happening and fuck, it sounds fucking painful. I promise I'll protect you and take care of you on rainy days when you're all wet and smell like a wet chicken and..." Davian was letting his eyes wander down Ambriel's torso, picturing how he looked naked and wet, and had to shake his head to focus again.
"Ambriel," Davian let go of one of Ambriel's hands and reached into his pants pocket, pulling out a worn white feather that had once been a part of Ambriel's impressive beautiful plumage. "A long time ago, without even realizing it, you saved my life." Davian put the feather into Ambriel's hand and closed his fingers around it. "I promise I'll repay you every opportunity I get."
