Thread: Get Good
WHO: Haylie and ??
WHEN: Sunday, August 21
WHERE: Basketball court
Haylie laced up her shoes and grabbed her ball off the bed, leaving her room at a jog. Kitsune House was busy and rowdy as always and she smirked and waved at her housemates, but didn't stop long. Once outside, she followed the sidewalk towards the outdoor basketball court that was basically just a slab of painted concrete with a basket on each end. It was one of her favorite spots on campus, and much easier to get a pick up game than gathering enough for a soccer match.
As she dribbled the ball, Haylie spotted a group of students already playing on the court. Happy to already have a game going, Haylie jogged up and waved. "Sup, guys? I got next rotation."
Haylie didn't think much of it when they ignored her. They were mid-game and it was an intense match. Haylie clapped along with the others on the sidelines when one of the boys got a good layup into the basket. Not seeing anyone else step up to take a rotation spot, Haylie crossed onto the court. "Sweet work, man." She grinned at the boy and offered a fist bump, but was left hanging as the boy brushed passed her.
"Alright, Jesse, you're in next." One of the players called to the sidelines. Another boy was there and, seeing Haylie trying to get in, shared a nod of understanding with his friend and got off the bench to come in.
"Hey, uh, I'm next. I called it." Haylie stepped up to him, her head barely reaching the height of his shoulders. All the boys on the court chuckled and shook their heads, walking off to pass the ball in and start the next round. "What the fuck? I know you fucking see me, Phillip. Let me in. Let's play."
"Yeah, I don't think so, tiny. Get off the court. The boys are playing here."
"Uh. Excuse you?" Haylie stood there, dumbstruck, but no one was paying her any attention anymore. They started the game and passed the ball in, playing on and Haylie had to move off the court or get trampled by the much larger boys. "Okay, this is fucked up! I'm better than all of you! Let me play!"
"Go play with the girls, Haylie. Go shopping or something. You know, you could look hot if you wore makeup and dressed in a mini skirt." Said one of the guys and the others laughed. "That?" He pointed to Haylie's baggy shirt and long basketball shorts. "Makes you look butch."
