Thread: In the Haze of Summer WHO: Jack Cavanaugh and Thierry Gravois WHERE: Sphinx dormitory WHEN: Monday afternoon
Summer was always a strange season for the castle. The dormitories were half-vacant and most of the classrooms were not used. The rhythm was different: mellow and lazy, with the students sleeping in and everything going at half speed. When the weather was particularly nice, most students would eat outside and spent most of their days at the beach or down in Camden, at the fair. Even the teachers were usually quite relaxed.
Currently? Jack was not. Blake had been at the school for a week and already, Jack had to resist the urge to ram an arrow or six down his throat.
Distractions helped. And finding a student working hard, inside, at the table in the common room? During Summer? Even for Sphinx, that was a rare. It was Thierry, an impending expert, poring over paper. Jack's heart made a hopeful little leap. Perhaps Thierry had reconsidered the not-going-to-university plan. 'Mr. Gravois,' he said, leaning in curiously, 'shouldn't you be outside?'
