Thread: Sing It From The Heart WHO: Valentin Graff and OPEN to all students. BYOT WHERE: The Dockyard WHEN: Friday Night
It could almost be called crowded. It didn't happen often that the St. Margaret's students invaded the bar: they preferred to live it up in Rockport or, especially in the summer, in the town festival. But the Dockyard had one thing it could boast with: it had karaoke night, (almost) every Friday. And tonight, that was what had drawn in the students, inspired by Valentin. They were by far the largest group, spreading an infectious happiness along the bar.
"Mississippi in the middle of a dry spell, Jimmy Rogers on the Victrola up high..."
"Black velvet and that little boy's smile, black velvet with that slow southern style..."
Valentin was one of the first ones to take the stage, having selected one of his personal favorites. He looked almost believable as a rocker in his torn jeans and his leather jacket, though the blond hair and the babyface spoiled the overall impression. What he lacked in apparent age, he made up for with performance and emotion, his smooth, low voice made more characteristic by an almost throaty quality caused by his smoking.
"A new religion that'll bring ya to your knees, black velvet if you please..."
By the end of the song, Valentin's spiky hair was mussed and in disarray, having given an over-the-top performance, complete with ad-libs and even some crawling around on the stage. Hadn't he been a vampire, he would've been sweating. Instead, he grinned at the audience, bowed and gave up the stage to the next one.
