"I suppose that's fair," James allowed. "And consistent. That's what I like about you, Victoria. You're very consistent. It's the reason I come to you for advice." It was also because James had seen the huntress in her. He had seen that glint she got in her eyes when she was stalking her prey. James knew Victoria was capable of being quite dark, if only it weren't for her heart of gold. The same heart of gold that would champion someone as dull as Bayani.
If James were really being honest with himself, he would admit that he didn't find Bayani dull at all. He found him annoyingly detached from consequence. Those kinds of people, those who didn't care about their image or anyone else's, they were ineffective tools. If someone didn't care what others thought about them, that took away their motivation to keep their mouth shut. It was why James had been so successful with getting away with what he did with Ben. Ben cared too much what others thought about him. Bayani on the other hand, did not. Dull was a much better word for it than unreachable.
"Yes, I'm sure you could go on and on about how wonderful he is." James reached for his wine again with a sigh. "But please, spare me. I'm really not interested in that." He sipped. "What I am interested in is your thoughts on long distance relationships. Have you ever had one? How did it work? Why did it end? Is it prudent to try to keep it going once one person moves away or should you cut your losses and move on to something more... readily available?"
