Andrei and John
John shook his head so fast he made himself dizzy. Covering his ears, John growled. "Oh my god, I did not just hear you say that. Shut up!"
Starting to give himself a headache, John stopped walking and sat down in the dirt. He folded his legs together, leaning forward. John stared straight ahead, tilting to one side, wishing he was back in his room in Hydra dorms so he could enjoy the last of the drugs in peace. Instead, here he was, stuck in the forest somewhere, with Andrei dogging his heels. It should have worried him more, John would think later, that a vampire was stalking his steps at night. But in that moment, John was too angry to realize his own danger. It was just Andrei, just another annoyance in his life telling him he couldn't do anything right.
Try as he might to fight it, the feelings of being nothing, of having nothing and no one but his magic, it all washed over him. John looked down at his empty palm and studied it closely, sadly but with determination. "It's hard to see when it's dark."
