Rafe and Heather
"The past has romantic moments," Rafe said, "but it is hardly as nice as they like it to be. Nowadays there's indoor plumbing, electricity, dentistry and modern medicine, and the list goes on." Having seen the world change, yes, there were times he missed the old days. He missed the days of men who dreamed about creating a world that was a better place. He'd known a few of those and their names rested in preserved documents in the nation's capital. It was fun to pretend though and get the nicer side of history, but yes, it would be nice if people took lessons from history instead of just romanticizing everything.
He chuckled, "A bit, yes. Even if you were a very obedient and rule-abiding student, you have an adventurous side too." Rafe knew that side rather well and they'd experienced it a great deal when he took her sailing. She wanted to see the world, and he took her to a number of places. Long days at sea where the two were the only crew there. It was a nice change from a large group of men who knew each other entirely too well. Brothers in arms or something akin to that.
"And now you're here trying to preserve the punch's integrity," he joked and smiled, "Don't have too much fun with it, otherwise you'll put Micah out of work for the next dance or two. Speaking of which, do you have any idea where he and Cressida escaped to?"
