James, Leon, Andrei, Bayani and open because this may get the ugliest
It was just beginning to flower, that precious painful memory of Andrei's, with James sitting in audience on the front row. And then something shifted. The feelings and emotions of the event became more real somehow. They took almost physical form, causing James' chest to hurt, his heart to sink, and his breath had he had any to cease. This was not the voyeuristic hobby of observing another person's pain, it was the pain itself manifesting in his own mind.
James had never, not once, felt something so real before. It was beautiful in its honesty and injured without a weapon to show for evidence. James felt everything Andrei was feeling down to the residual feelings passed from Leon and James' earlier attack to Andrei. James even felt that fiercely protective feeling for Leon that Andrei had, how deeply the fangling was cherished. Feelings like these could kill someone.
James then realized Leon was hitting him. He tasted blood and felt the weight of the younger vampire on his chest, pinning him down. Andrei's shared emotions were fading with the broken eye contact and James heard Bayani's voice speaking to Leon, trying to calm him down. It was all meaningless. James was in a shocked state, numb to the physical pain of Leon's assault but still having lingering echoes of Andrei's sense of abandonment, Leon's resounding support to counter it, and the shifted roles as Leon stepped in as protector.
Instead of moving, instead of speaking, James could only lay there, helpless. Tears tracked down his high cheek bones and his eyes were haunted pools of loss. James didn't want the emotions to fade, even though they had all but gutted him. Going back to normal, normal for him, seemed so gray in comparison.
