Ambriel finally listened, looking at the boy and realizing he was entirely unhappy. Ambriel frowned, realizing he had done it again. He had done what he thought was right without listening to what the other wanted. Never mind that they were usually wrong.
"Sorry," Ambriel said, looking down ruefully. "I didn't..." He looked up at Roland, his expression growing more determined. "I should not have pulled you in. It wasn't my place."
Ambriel gave Roland a pat on the arm - which was roughly where a normal boy's shoulder would have been - and then, his wings twitched. "But hiding away won't do you much good. You're much too big for that."
