"I think when you're ready, you should talk to him. It's important to clear the air, if you plan on staying friends with him. Otherwise all these unspoken hurts will lie sleeping, but not go away." Kane let Sorin do what he wanted, encouraging the nuzzles and kisses with baring more of his skin to him. He didn't need to feed on energy in order to enjoy the simplicity and familiarity of lust. "Heartbreak is never easy, my darling, but it does help us grow." They were easy words to say, but he'd let his heart ice over long ago, and it didn't grow or teach him anything new. So they were empty, coming from him.
Kane had experiences like this. He had worse than this. The word whore had been slung at him before, from mouths that mattered, until it meant nothing to him anymore. The Riveras could call him anything, insinuate anything, and it was so very easy to brush off now. As jaded as he was, he didn't want other people to suffer through what he had. At least not Dana and Sorin, who he was very fond of, mostly because of their innocence and hope for others. It was a demon trait to want to corrupt that goodness, and there were times he felt the impulse, but despite what it seemed, he did not follow his impulses whenever he wanted. He was so much more controlled than he seemed.
His eyebrows raised at Sorin's quick movement, smiling at him. "Of course I do." He loved the Kane that was presented to him. That was the point. "And I love you, my dear." In his own way, he did. He'd call it fondness over love, since he wasn't ultimately certain he knew what the latter felt like. But this was an easier word to use in the situation. "Some day you might find someone who you want to love solely, and those of us who will lose you, we will understand. You'll get there with him, but allow yourself to be hurt first. It's only natural."
