Davian rubbed the back of his head, not that Paxton's smack had hurt, and it hadn't faded Davian's smug little smirk at all. He looked at Paxton enviously as his brother told him about his new position. Paxton always had a way of making others envious of him, Davian included, and this was no exception. It was a position of importance and power and many demons would kill to have it - and probably had - and it was a job that Davian always wanted. Instead, he had played disgraced messenger boy. Not quite the same thing.
"That's... I mean, congrats." He glanced at Paxton again from under his hood, dropping his arm from his head. "I'll be fine." Davian shrugged, even though he had no idea what he was going to do, and the panic of Paxton leaving and being out of reach was setting in. "That town we left, it wasn't so bad, right?"
