Paxton blinked and then snapped: "A beach? How in the--?" He caught himself, trying to reel in that familiar anger that cropped up when he talked to his lazy brother who always showed surprising perseverance when it came to avoiding things.
Paxton sighed. He was going to have to try this differently.
"Davian," he said, "listen to me. You need to start thinking about this stuff. I won't be here next year to keep an eye on you and Ambriel, as stubborn as he is, doesn't know what you know about the world. He doesn't see danger. You do. You know how cruel the world can be, especially to people like him. If he ever falls, he'll fall deeply. You need to shape up."
