Jack liked his morning office hours. It gave him the chance to catch up the marking of his essays and other homework, because he wasn't bothered that often during this time of the year. At the beginning of the year, there were plenty of standards asking about different creatures and types, but that curiosity tended to wane as the year progressed and the work piled on. Sphinxes tended to swing by in his quarters back at the dormitory, so his office hours were when he caught up.
He looked up when he recognized the voice of Mr. Vincent, caught off guard by the feelings that fluttered up in his stomach. Leon had always been one of those students who stood out, both by attitude and by the way he held himself, but Jack had never noticed. Noticed how his slanted eyes had looked like Simon's. How the curve of his lips reminded him of Marinna. How his voice carried like Wessel's.
Jack blinked, trying to figure out what was happening. It had been so long since he'd felt anything like this. "Mr. Dr-- Leo-- I mean, Mr. Vincent. I-- Do come in. What-- Um? What's going on?"
