Annual Easter Brunch and The Hunt
WHO: Ms. Menides & OPEN to all
WHEN: Sunday, at 11 [forward dated]
WHERE: The dining hall AND all over
"Talk to me, baby
I'm going blind from this sweet, sweet craving, whoa
Let's lose our minds and go crazy crazy
Ah ya ya ya ya I keep on hoping we'll eat cake by the ocean
Walk for me, baby
I'll be Diddy, you'll be Naomi, whoa
Let's lose our minds and go crazy crazy
Ah ya ya ya ya I keep on hoping we'll eat cake by the ocean (huh)"
The music finished on a high note, and the band and choir bowed and cleared out, the individual members returning to their seats at the tables. Ms. Menides returned to the dais, her grin a little tight. "Well, that certainly was a... spirited song wasn't it? We have House Kitsune to thank for this particular choice, so give it up for the choir, the band and their ability to pull this particular musical arrangement off with aplomb!"
Ms. Menides' own round of applause was short and curt.
"Now," she said, her grin brightening, "before we start with our Easter Brunch, I would like to inform our newer students of the annual Easter Egg Hunt. Before we begin spring break and most students head home to visit families, we use this day to celebrate Easter at the Academy. This means that, throughout the Academy grounds, eggs are hidden for you all to collect! The House that gathers the most Eggs will be able to select the next song to be sung at our our next celebratory buffet. They will also have the deciding vote in the theme of this year's Spring Formal.
Her eyes slid over the long tables laden with food: baskets of bread, plates of cold meat and cutlets, trays of sliced vegetables, carafes filled with fresh juice and milk, bowls filled with fruit... On the side, there were tables where eggs (fried, boiled and scrambled) were being kept warm in containers, and where the usual cornflake dispensers were set up. For Easter, there was a an arrangement of a multitude of pastries and baklava on every table, and there was a chocolate fountain for all the students to enjoy. Despite all this delicious distractions, most of the students were currently looking at the Headmistress. Good.
Ms. Menides continued. "As always, the Easter Hunt does not permit students to go scurrying about in places where you're not meant to go. The dungeons, the caverns below and the restricted section in the library are still off-limits. Also," her eyes narrowed, "there are no eggs hidden in any of the lockerrooms or bathrooms, so there will be no boys looking in the rooms meant for girls and vice versa. Individual dorm rooms are also off-limits. Understood?" It seemed her eyes were lingering at the Kitsune table when she said this. "Finally," her eyes lingered on the Ladons now, "anyone who deliberately breaks the eggs of someone else, will have points docked off for their own house. I'll know."
"Anyhow," she said, grinning and bringing her hands together, "the eggs will be counted at five by the Heads of the Houses. Cracked or broken eggs don't count. All eggs must be collected in the baskets by the Main Hall: yellow for Pegasus, blue for Sphinx, purple for Hydra, red for Kitsune and green for Ladon! That is it! Enjoy your food, have a fun day and happy hunting!" She refused to say 'and may the odds be ever in your favor'. Decorum had to be maintained.
ooc: Player participation will determine which House wins. The winner of the egg hunt will be the House who chooses the theme for the upcoming Spring Formal. Onward and upward!
