Thread: Bailando
WHO: Bayani Castillo and Victoria Vazquez
WHEN: March 18, night [backdated]
WHERE: A Latin club in Miami
Victoria found the Latin neighborhoods in Miami very easily. As soon as she started speaking Spanish, others spoke it back to her and she ended up in places like Little Havana and spent a lot of time there when she could. It was nice to be in a place where most of the people were speaking her native tongue, though with some differences. She got a bit of teasing because of her Castellano, and a few even remarked how she might be pretentious because she was Argentine too. But because of a pretty face or just the solidarity of a shared language, most of the people there were nice. The daylight hours were mostly spent at Kane's house on the beach, but occasionally she ventured out with a parasol to protect her from the sun so she could explore Miami a little more. She sat in the restaurants and more or less basked in the opportunity of hearing her own language play a dominant role. She didn't realize how much she missed the sound of Spanish spoken all around her until here. It would be difficult to return to Maine where the number of native Spanish speakers was limited to only a few people. She went to a few other clubs during the week, though there had been a night where she went swimming during the night. The clubs were fun but she found a couple of clubs where the dominant dancing was of the Latin variety. She went once already and a few people tagged along and they had fun. The people at the clubs were happy to teach them the dances and Victoria had fun with what she already knew, coming back just before dawn refreshed from a night of fun and dancing and one hell of an appetite. One of the problems of going to a club for that long meant she got a workout and that meant being around the humans was difficult because they became less tantalizing as dance partners and more as meals. Tonight before going out, she made sure she and Bayani had some blood packs so it would make it easier. It was just her and Bayani though. There was entirely too much to do in Miami on a Friday night. The Latin music could be heard from the street and getting into the club wasn't that hard. Victoria did her make-up well enough to look arguably twenty-one and the dress she wore helped. Red was her favorite color before she became a vampire, and it also was a color hard to ignore. As soon as they walked through the door, the music struck them, but thankfully its volume outside prepared them for it. "Come on," Victoria said as a merengue song started. Merengue was probably the easiest style to learn and Bayani picked it up very easily. Taking him by the hand, she led him to the dance floor where others were already dancing, "I expect we'll hear a lot of salsa, but this is a good warm up song." She smiled at him, feeling strangely alive in this place. There were a lot of humans, but the music was lively and night always felt more energizing. |
