"What on earth is going on?" James' voice was clearly irritated, coming out as a hiss. This was all such a bother. Couldn't these two handle their own affairs without constantly needing Paxton to fix it for them?
James and Paxton had rushed immediately to the hotel when Paxton received Davian's frantic texts. When they arrived, the demon, the angel, and the Alex were all missing, but they'd found the open balcony doors and put two and two together. The Weatherby towncar had brought them to the hospital and the driver was waiting outside.
James was more inconvenienced than concerned. He'd been pulled out of a very pleasant evening with Paxton. No games. No other students or prying eyes around. It was just the two of them. Now they were five.
Or four. James raked his hair back, glancing at Paxton before looking between Ambriel and Davian. Right, it was important to show concern for a friend.
