Bayani & Victoria
His comment about the century plan made Victoria laugh and she shook her head. It was a funny way to think about it and wondered if someone could really plan that far ahead. Maybe. When she was alive she had a lot planned for her future. Go to college, have fun there, and then maybe get married. Then from there her life would have mimicked a lot of what she and James would do together, save for the drinking human blood portion. She might have had kids, and for as much as she knew she felt guilty about it, she somehow didn't really feel that loss of children. Maybe someday she would. Maybe that's why some vampires made other vampires.
"Oh, I look great in a bikini, I assure you," she said with a hint of teasing with a wink but she did know she looked great in one. Many winters on a beach in Punta de Este in Uruguay or at Mar del Plata in her home country had gained her more than just a nice tan, but also the admiration of a number of boys. Even Leon had given her a long look when they'd been racing at the lake and she had to emerge from the water without a bra because she'd phased through it. Served him right for cheating. Victoria was a girl who knew she was beautiful but it wasn't all she let herself be.
When he asked her about her five-year plan, Victoria shrugged, "No. Mr. Kaden talked about going to college, but I feel like he tells that to all of us in Ladon. Go to college. Get an education. He pushed Robert, the mentor for Ladon last year, until he finally applied and got in on an American football scholarship. I just don't know if I want college." It probably didn't hurt her if she did attend, but Victoria still felt like she was trying to figure out what to do now. Her future had some direction now.
"I should feel sad about that," Victoria said, glancing in the direction of the lake to note two more dives, which she quickly checked off on the iPad, "but I almost like that uncertainty. It's troubling and freeing at the same time."
