Kane and Ellie
"I know people who have been gone from their homeland for decades and still keep the accent. You'd probably have to teach yourself to get rid of it, and why bother when it's lovely?" Kane was going to say centuries instead of decades, but he did try to keep details to himself about the supernaturals he was acquainted with. Everything that came out of his mouth was well thought out, even if the way they fell on his tongue seemed comfortable and off the cuff.
"Hate is a strong word. Grumpy is probably more accurate. I was perfectly happy with snow as something I'd only seen in the movies."
He realized he miscalculated by her response, she visibly recoiled, and he rarely caused this reaction in another person without meaning to. Kane was actually surprised for once, and it showed in only small ways, the parting of his lips, the slight furrowing in his eyebrows. "I'm sorry, I had no idea." He was a prick when he wanted to be, and he poked at things when they deserved to be poked, but he rarely directed his hurtful words at someone who didn't deserve it. In this case it was pure ignorance. And he would have to study up before making such assumptions again.
"Well, that is a terrible start to a speed dating conversation. Meet a pretty girl, remind her of a horrific life experience, make things uncomfortable."
