"Davian," Paxton said coolly, "let him go." Paxton had dealt with many demon negotiations and they all essentially boiled down on threats and reparte. Now, it was true that Kane lacked elegance - he was a spoiled little brat, always had been - but still, Paxton wasn't bothered. In the grand scheme of things? Paxton and his family had a lot more clout in Las Vegas than Kane's did.
Paxton grinned at Kane. "Well, you're certainly very threatening, aren't you? My, an injured mother spilling many secrets... Heavens, someone might have to resort to extreme measures." Somebody without a tongue could still spill secrets. Somebody without their life could not. "Luckily, we really aren't at the point where the measures would be that extreme, despite all of your... posturing."
Paxton wandered about the room, fingering the boxes. "Now that we're beyond the unpleasant bit where you try and prove you have the biggest dick in the room, let's get down to it. We will leave you alone, if you give us your word you won't provide information on me, Davian or the angel to anyone back in the commune. Agreed?"
