WHO: Leon Drumm and Andrei Dantură
WHEN: Early morning
WHERE: Hydra House, boys showers
Leon was a devout Vodouisant who always made time to worship the Loa. With his classes and school work taking up the majority of his time, and the practice and application of the magic he learned taking up the rest, the best time for the Haitian boy to practice his religion was in the mornings during his ritual bathing, cleansing, marking and prayers.
It began with the prayers and chanting that Leon performed with some ritual symbols made from bone and animal hide, things he kept wrapped up when they were not being used. There was something for each of the Loa who favored him and something for the ones he wished to gain favor from, particularly to give him strength to deal with the haunting presence of the ghosts of the people he had killed. They were with him even as he chanted, watching on with their sunken eyes and twisted broken and cut bodies from acts of suicide brought on by the young priest they now cursed. Leon could feel their malice, but it was a constant presence, and he was adjusting better than some who had not been born into the life he led, one filled with witnessing exorcisms before he could even walk, and watching the ebb and flow of life and the balance of The One all around him.
Voodoo brought Leon peace, but it was also his weapon.
Andrei's doll was still active, and had been brought with him as he went to do his morning rituals, staying close by because Leon had seen that look in the vampire's eyes, and he knew he'd come for him. But several days had passed and Leon was more at ease now, relaxed enough to leave the doll on the bench in the shower room with the rest of his charms and bracelets, stripping down to just his tattoos and piercings before stepping under the hot stream of the shower. With his back to the entrance, carefully washing himself and taking particular care to rebind his hair into the dreadlocks, Leon closed his eyes and enjoyed the moment of peace and solitude.
