Thread: Crossing Paths
WHO: Victoria & Ashton
WHEN: Monday, Jan. 12 [backdated]
WHERE: Daniela's old room, Kitsune Dorm
Classes starting again after winter break ended only reminded Ashton of how long Barclay had been lost. Two months and four days. It felt much longer than that, but the dragon had to stir himself out of his brooding and his waiting in order to show up to classes. He'd lost his luster, he couldn't focus all through his classes, and snapped at one of the teachers who'd tried to get his attention by touching his shoulder. It had earned him two hours of detention after class, and that was when Ashton realized he needed to get himself a distraction before he went too far and spent all his time in detention instead of by Barclay's bedside, waiting. The arrival of the Dragonslayer had not helped.
Ashton thought of his friends. Jae would be busy with her studies and homework, as would Ambriel and Leon. Kana had been more distant since her change. Emily might as well be on another planet these days, for how often Ashton saw her or heard from her. Andrei he would be meeting with after nightfall to wrestle. That brought his thoughts to the witch girl who had been sending a hot thermos of tea down to the infirmary for him almost every day. Daniela may be a Kitsune, but she was persistent enough in wanting to be his friend to earn the dragon's attention. Ashton had not received a thermos from her this past weekend, and wondered if she had forgotten.
That would not do.
The dragon found his steps taking him to Kitsune dorm. It was a place Ashton did not enjoy for a whole plethora of reasons, but mostly because he found that the Kitsune students couldn't be serious for five seconds if it was the last thing they did and their life depended on it. They were wild and erratic, always needing to talk, to prank, to run sarcasm like it was a new language. The worst thing about Kitsune House, though Ashton would admit this to no one, was that Alex resided there. The Shaman had almost killed him without raising a finger and Ashton had been powerless to defend himself. That was the tricky things about witches. They didn't need to be fierce or even smart to do harm.
He entered the dorm with a resigned sigh, determined to find Daniela and ask her - tell her - to walk with him somewhere away from her Housemates. As Ashton approached her door, he realized her scent was cold in the area, indicating that she had not been there in some time. Something was amiss. Frowning, he knocked on her door.
