Who: Jasper & Sara What: A date When: January 5th, 6pm Where: Pegasus House then Camden Wharf Rating: TBD
Normal in these kind of circumstances Jasper would be calm and collected, knowing what was expected of him when his parents did not so subtly shove him in the direction of one of the daughters of their friends'. Simple smile nod, light conversation, compliment, then kiss the hand when leaving their presence. He had plenty of experience with that...with girls he frankly wasn't interested in. For years it had been Lilie and just Lilie in his mind. He never got to have a date with her because...well he didn't handle his infatuation with her well. He should have spoken up sooner instead of subtly stalking her for the past four years. But Lilie was gone now, married to some elf boy and...happy...he hoped she was happy, found happiness within her duty to marry him.
But tonight wasn't about his parents or Lilie, it was about Sara. Had he told himself a year ago that he would have some butterflies over a date with little Sara Martin he would laugh. But now it seemed perfectly natural. Sara was a ray of sunshine and had always been so sweet to him. She was impossible not to like, she found joy in the smallest things and it was nice to be going out with someone who didn't see dollar signs. I mean sure she knew he came from money and could be flying her off to Paris for dinner if he wished it, but things like that didn't matter to her. While he was sure she'd be surprised and excited she wasn't the type to expect that and if he opted to take her somewhere local she wouldn't storm off in a huff and he'd have to do something ridiculously flamboyant and expensive to win her back. Sara was different and after everything he was liking people like her, people who were different from what he had grown up knowing.
Having one day to plan a date wasn't the best, probably easy for others but for him...it was tough. Camden had a surprisingly good selection of food choices but deciding which place to take a girl on a date...well that was new. Sure he sometimes took Ripley places, but that hardly was a date and it was rare. He really felt guilty about how he treated her. He'd ask Mr. Gurule later if he happened to have a forwarding address for her, as he had heard she had gone to live at his home commune in Atlanta, he need to sent a letter apologizing.
After careful deliberating he decided on Duke's Diner...not super classy but the food was good. He had considered taking her to Montrose, he was sure if he slipped the maƮtre d' a hundred or so he could get them in, but honestly this was a first date and going to a stuffy restaurant like that wasn't what he was in the mood for. He wanted tonight to be relaxed and fun and the diner seemed like a good choice.
He made his way to the common area to wait for her. His clothing that night was a pair on his designer jeans a graphic t-shirt, and a navy blue sports coat. Jasper checked his watch, she'd be coming out any time now and he took another deep breath to calm the swarm of butterflies that had taken flight in his stomach. He had quelled them when he heard the door opened and turned in the direction and they took flight again.
