Thread: A Key to the Puzzle
WHO: Cressida Hallowfen
WHEN: Jan. 11, midday [forward-dated]
WHERE: Infirmary
NPCs: Blake Hartley
Cressida had an open hour of the day not for lunch but meant for lesson preparation. However, she used it instead to come to check on Barclay. Classes resumed today after a lengthy winter break and many of the students were sluggish in remembering what they were learning before it began. She already used part of her break to take care of lesson preparation so it left her this time open to see if there were any changes. There weren't, and while this was becoming what Cressida expected, it wasn't what she hoped for. Dressed as she was often for class, her gray pencil skirt and white blouse gave an air of professionalism. Cressida's dark hair pulled into a French roll and her heels made a soft sound on the floor of the infirmary. Somewhere in another part she could hear Mr. Pheres going about his own work as she went over Barclay's vitals. He still had a pulse. He was still breathing. But his brain activity was low. He wasn't there and his body was simply just running like a car waiting for the driver to return from a quick stop in a shop. While she looked neat and put-together, her expression was one of concern. One would think she would grow tired of worrying, but another day with no change meant Ashton's condition would worsen even more. Wherever Barclay was out in the woods, Ashton's wasting away wasn't enough to call him back. Did he even know? She heard about Hartley's return to the school from a co-worker but didn't think it had much to do with her. So she generally ignored the mention of him because he was likely there just to check on Ashton. The dragon hunter looking after the dragon. It was still bizarre to think about, but only a few months ago the school was attacked by beings from another world. Cressida reached down to press her hand against Barclay's forehead. No fever nor was he cold. Just there. "Hm," she made a soft noise and then heard movement nearby. Figuring it was Kiakos, she spoke in Greek, "He'll need a new IV soon. I can change it while I'm here." Her eyes raised, expecting to see the centaur but instead she faced Blake instead. "What are you doing here?" she asked, though it wasn't as accusing in tone as the words might have been. |
