Ashton listened intently to the rules and he felt confident that he had a good grasp of them as Jae set up the board. He chose black, holding some of the pieces in his palm and liking the way they felt against his skin. They weren't cool or warming like solid gold was to the touch, but they had a good weight to them and a polished shine. It somehow made the game more appealing to his eyes.
"Does she study Baduk all her days?" Ashton glanced up at Jae as she spoke about her mother. He liked to speak of family with others who were level headed like Jae was. He knew that living a great number of days had certain advantages, but it did not always mean that someone was smarter or better at something that someone else who had lived for a shorter length of time. Ashton had learned this being just over one century himself. His years had been spent in solitude, not out among the humans or even his own kind. His age did not always reflect his wisdom, and it was the same for others with prolonged lifespans. "Being cocky is not always a bad reflection of oneself." Ashton huffed softly. "Confidence is a strong personality trait and it must be maintained."
He made his own move on the board and hesitated before asking the next question, but it was on his mind. "You will return to her? After." After being when Jae graduated, of course.
