"We're not broken, just bent," the choir sang, "and we can learn to love again." The girls repeated the line before the song faded out on a wistful piano chord. The teacher declared it a wrap, and dismissed them. He was obviously pleased. It was a difficult song, but they'd pulled it off. Grinning, Valentin grabbed their new sheet music, always on a natural high after choir. He looked to his left, but that place had been left empty after since Darius had gotten pulled out of the school. It made sense: after the Wendigo attacked a student, his family had felt it unsafe and had transferred their son back at his original school again. Valentin sighed. FaceBookchat just wasn't the same.
Valentin liked the song. Nate Ruess had a very high register, which was perfect for a tenor like him. Besides, it meant he could stand out while harmonizing with the other boys with their lower voices.
