“Would you prefer the term Self-Portrait?” Her eyebrow quirked upward and dimples appeared. She tried hard to be relatable to her students and kept up with pop culture and slang in order to put them at ease. An unfortunate result of that was that the terms would often creep into her conversations with other adults. At least “Selfie” wasn’t too bad, relatively speaking. Elle leaned in closer to him and smiled for the picture.
Afterward she examined the photo and nodded with approval. “What do you think?” She handed her phone to him to examine. While he did, she leaned her elbow on the table and rested her chin in her hand. “It is pretty interesting about vampires and photographs, though. There are so many fascinating aspects to our world. And I just ignored them all for years. How incredibly dull of me.”
She blinked and realized he probably had no idea what she was talking about. “Er, sorry. Musing on past mistakes.” She waved a hand as if to dismiss her words. “So tell me how you’ve been. And any sage advice that you’d like to pass on to the new girl?”
