Sometimes the direct approach was the best, but it had been a while since Hugh had dealings with people such as Leif. Life and time were too short for careful conversation in the far north. The people there liked to get right to the point. It made Hugh somewhat nostalgic to be faced with it again.
His brows lifted for the suggested meaning of his answer, then he smiled as if to say try again. He watched Leif closely as the dragon thought it through, put some pieces together. It was always fascinating to watch someone go through the thought process. It was one reason why he taught Philosophy.
They would not be having this conversation if there were students nearby. Hugh's instructions from Ms. Menides were quite clear on that! He hadn't messed that up yet, and had no intention to start now.
The lack of a reaction was a reaction in itself, and told Hugh much. He nodded then looked off toward the deep snow that had fallen. "Thought and Memory, they are. Huginn and Muninn." His eyes slid back to Leif as a sly smile curled his lips. "I teach Philosophy and took the name Hugh." Then he winked, slowly and broadly.
