"No," she answered Sidro immediately. Her head rested against Sorin's shoulder, and when Sidro sat on the other side of her, her hand found his. Fingers laced through his before they squeezed to reassure him she wasn't angry, but it was also an apology for snapping at him. There was no way to keep him from picking up on her feelings. She just didn't want him to take them from her.
Ellie swallowed hard against the tears that didn't seem inclined to stop. "He sa-aid he's stupid." Apparently, she was going to talk. "Tha' he canna be wha' I want. He never even asked me wha' I want so how could he even know?!" She closed her eyes tight against the fresh tears as she turned her head to hide her face against Sorin's shoulder, and her hand tightened even more in Sidro's. "I shoulda known better."
