Just Away from the Bonfire: Ellie & Rider & Kaden
Ellie took off like a shot, and Rider gave one apologetic backward glance to their grumpy teacher before he followed after her.
Obviously she was upset. Though she tried to hide it, he could tell. She wasn't always the best at hiding her emotions. Rider gave her a sympathetic smile when she tried to proclaim just how fine she was.
"I know you are," he answered her warmly. He didn't like seeing the shining in her eyes. A lot of guys freaked when they saw a girl about to cry, but Rider had always been the sort to try and cheer them up again. Sometimes it worked, others it didn't. But he'd always try. "But hey, don't worry about the detentions, okay? Yeah, they suck, but it won't be the worst thing ever. Trust me, I've had more of them than you could ever dream of getting." He smiled at her and his dimples flashed. "Look at them like a rite of passage. Everyone cool gets detentions now and then. You went to a party, had some drinks, and had a good time, right? Well congratulations, Ellie. You are officially a normal teenager."
He grinned again and raised his shoulder in a half shrug. "Or normal for St Margaret's anyway."
