The Party: After Midnight
Feelings intensified, it seemed, spurned on by liquor, drugs and the fire inside people's hearts, both the living and the dead. The music had gotten louder -- a lot louder. Most everyone was dancing: those that weren't were engaged in other physical activities.
The fire was roaring. Some boys had shed their shirts, some girls too. Everybody was drinking now, and almost everybody had something painted on their body. For those who took care to observe, to think, it almost seemed like a tribal dance, thought the drums had been replaced by drum and base.
