Narrative: Silly Old Bear
WHO: Kaden
WHEN: September 1st
WHERE: River in the woods.
The bear stood up, a towering three meters that cast a shadow to frighten the fish into an area that was easier to catch them in. He waited, brown eyes watching, and then swiped his massive paw. A trout was knocked into the air, flopping wildly to escape into the river again before the kodiak's jaws caught it mid air. Kaden gave a low rumble as he lowered to all fours and carried the last of his catch to the shore. Water soaked into his thick fur, making his normal 1600 lbs closer to 2000. He left deep footprints on the muddy banks, five toes and long black claws digging in. On the shore, he dropped the fish, pinned it with his paw, and bent his head to bite its head off. The eyes and the brain were the best part.
Fed and sated for now, the start of the change of seasons triggering his metabolism to double up on his food intake for the winter, Kaden left the river and moved into the forest. He shifted form as he walked, changing gradually into the form of a man. Droplets of water dribbled down his muscular frame and Kaden stopped next to the tree where he'd left his clothes, using his shirt to dry his bearded face. The same beard had more silver hairs in it this season than it did a year ago. Kids had that effect on teachers and age waited for no man. Kaden would be turning 40 soon. He could already hear the cracks and jokes from Jack.
Pulling on his jeans, Micah listened to the forest around him, already planning his patrol later around the borders of the school property. Kids from town, tourists probably, had been camping not far away from the edges and Kaden was keeping a close eye on them. Soon the tourists would be gone and classes would be back in session. It meant a whole new collection of headaches and teenagers who already thought they knew it all, but it was a job that Kaden loved. He was eager to get back to it.
