Teddy's eyes dropped to Leon's mouth as he spoke like he was used to watching lips to understand what was happening, some habits were so ingrained that even when he had his hearing aids in, it was hard from him to break out of them, like going to sign in answer instead of speaking, and watching people's mouths as they talked. He lifted his eyes to look up at Leon when he said he knew of both Matt and himself and he gave a small smile, awkward again and reached out to shake Leon's hand.
As he did, his eyes caught on the tattoos that he'd seen around the school, maybe in some classes? He wasn't sure, Teddy kept to himself so much that it was easy for him to miss some things. He tended to just get his head down and do his classes. He really wanted to learn more about magic, look in more of the books and spells and really start actually using the talent that got him sent here.
"Leon," he repeated. It was a name he'd never said before, and his mind automatically associated Leon with a sign name of Priest which was how he'd refer to the guy if he ever spoke to Matt about him in the future. "I like your rings," he said, shaking Leon's hand and then withdrawing his touch shyly, clearly not used to people actually taking the time to speak to him for longer than a few moments. "I think we have some classes together?" he asked, "Maybe? I don't know- I feel so behind here that I just work really hard."
