Autumn: Sorin and Jae
"It will take time," Jae agreed, "It takes time and if you were there for ten years, it will be hard to break away. Coming here was the first time I have ever been in a school. Or away from my home. I know I did not suffer the way you and your friends did, but I can say that it does get better. You and your friends are going to be fine."
She felt another wave of human scent hit her. She felt herself stop moving and then she was looking at him. Looking at him in a way that a cat might look at a mouse. The way a lioness might look at a gazelle. She leaned in closer to him and breathed it in again. It smelled good, he smelled good. He smelled delicious. Her hands touched over his shoulders as if she were petting fur but instead her mind began thinking about how thin he was. How easily she could overtake him. "You're going to be just fine here," she said in a low tone, though it didn't necessarily sound comforting. Husky maybe, but definitely hungry.
And then the first wave of nausea hit and the look faltered. She blinked a few times as she teetered, "I'm . . . I'm sorry. I need to go to the bathroom."
Immediately Jae drew herself away and it was at a good time considering the song was ending.
