Summer: Leon and Victoria
"No!" Leon said with a bit of exasperation in his voice. He pressed his lips together and looked around them, then at Victoria. Leaning in closer and attempting to lower his voice, he told her, "I don't trust James. I can't..." he shook his head and pulled away again, shooting a look at the Weatherby.
"I can't talk about it here." James had people, eyes and ears, in the most surprising places. Besides, if Victoria really did like James, if he made her happy somehow, maybe she was doing the same for him and maybe that would cause James to back off entirely. Whatever entertainment James got out of meddling in his life, Leon at least knew Victoria wouldn't stand for it. She was smart enough to pick up on it if that was what was going on. He shouldn't try to meddle in return. It was only creating a bigger rift between them.
Maybe that was what James wanted, Leon thought, then shook his head. No. He couldn't start thinking like a paranoid victim, questioning every move James made for ulterior motives. Just leave it alone.
"I'm sorry, I'm just..." he gave Victoria a more sincere look. "I'm just trying to look out for you, Victoria. I don't trust him."
