Being out on his own was something refreshing and empowering to Peter Gale. But he had been looking out for himself as much as he could ever since his parents had him committed to that facility. No one really understood him, except for Aunt Ginny. But that was only partially. And now he was at a school that had a whole variety of people and creatures that no one else truly believed existed.
The young spirit medium walked into Pegasus house’s kitchenette with five grocery bags. Mostly he had food. In one bag was a new dress shirt, trousers, tie, socks, and dress shoes. Perhaps he would attend the dance, but for now he wanted to do what calmed him - cook. Peter rolled up his sleeves and began unpacking the bags of food - fresh bell peppers, onion, seasoned beef, a bottle of low-sodium soy sauce, bottles of water, and a packet of jasmine rice. Out of the corner of his eye, he could see a ghost or two lingering just outside the charm's protective range. These poor souls were knew to him and he had asked for a break. Some were just too desperate as they kept watching him.
"Tomorrow," he whispered as he went about finding a frying pan, wooden spoon, a couple of plates, cutting knife, and flatware. He found what he could use and began chopping up the vegetables and meat. The young man flipped the mixture, the light catching on the pan’s handle and also the scars along the inside of Peter’s wrists. The luscious scents rose as he had his back to the doorway.
